What you are about to read is my first nibble at poetry. I was thirteen at the time and I read a newspaper article about the untimely death of a low wage employee at a multimillion dollar corporation.
The innocent man was crushed under faulty machinery, for which the CEO personally apologized. He even wrote a few words about the employee saying he was hardworking, punctual and loved by all.
I found it really strange that the employee must have been neglected and pretty much unknown in the company and now suddenly after his death the CEO of the company is writing articles in newspapers for him.
‘I just slept over the burning fire,
with fifty crying over me;
this strange feeling I admire,
why people cry its a mystery.
.
when i was among them, it hardly mattered,
the presence of me out there;
now I’m out of sight their hearts are scattered,
now they suddenly care.
.
Flesh turning into ashes,
Bones turning to dust;
My face remembered in flashes,
Hatred turning to rust.
.
For the first time I wanted to fight for my soul,
Even with the flames emphasizing my agony;
The fire devouring me whole,
But their love enlarging my vanity.
.
Now everyone loves me,
now that I’m not here;
honestly, its a strange world,
shoves you into flames and then sheds tears.’
What a sad story. Deeply emotional poem

This is an amazing plethora of human fallacies and the irony of life – remarkably thought evoking and meaningful .
Here is one more thought..”WHY PEOPLE CRY, ITS A MYSTERY” reading this reminded me of something I heard a long time ago…that most people cry thinking of their own mortality …dealing with someone’s death serves as an affirmation of their own mortality.

That really might be the case. But I had written a piece about how immortality would ruin the beauty of the world around us. The fact that things are impermanent makes them more worth holding on to.
I might post that one someday soon.

That’s the harsh reality.. society doesn’t care about you until you’re rich or you’re dead.
